Wow this brings back memories. I was the crew chief on the #10 Ron Regula Monte Carlo I think we missed the hearing in the transmission because it just wasn’t firing off on restarts Thanks for sharing the video Bob
Pretty Cool stuff they did back in the day at Desoto Speedway. I remember being there on the night Richard and Kyle Petty were there and many times when a Nascar driver would show up and drive the Stimus House Car. Aurburndale had one of these events as well. If i remember right it was, Davey Allison, Rick Wilson. Tim Richmond, Michael Waltrip and Joe Ruttman....I'm missing a couple more I think but they ran an all-star race with cars that the local drivers put up. One of the drivers wadded their car up pretty bad if i remember right [Ruttman drove it?], #49? Richmond drove #77 i think. I don't think these kind of special events happen much anymore. Richmond was cool as always, when he got out of the car, he signed the dash board, hung around and chatted with the fans just like he knew everybody, pretty cool stuff.
A loaded filed of Late Models. Butch Miller/Stanley Smith/Rich Bickle/Jimmy Cope to name a few. Those big races were fun to watch. Miller would usually come out on top most of the time.
Man O Man the Good Old Days at Sunshine! The racing back then top to bottom was some of the best in the country, Sunshine always drew a lot of cars in every class. It takes Big Money now to race on a regular basis as we all know but at least the track is still open....for now anyway. Thanks for posting these videos.
The Good Old Days of Sunshine Speedway. 25 Late Models for a Saturday Night Feature. The racing was so good back in those days, still good today just not as much of it.
Is that Pete Parker in the black #10? Man i wish i could get a lineup card for this one. And results. If thats Pete Parker runnin 2nd….WOW. Thanks for the post
This is Jimmy Stewart just let me know what time with old friends at the speedway everybody was a part of these special years I remember everybody good luck to all
I remember that night very well as I drove the pace car and Ken Schrader stayed right on my rear bumper. I could see his big smile in my rear view mirror.
Those nylon/polyester pants are too much looking, I feel safe to say my dad NEVER wore anything like that back in the 80's, never seen a single picture of him in those style of pants.
Hey Bob I used to watch wingless midgets many times on TNN about 35 years ago. Good times, indeed. I much prefer for the cars to be wingless because this way you can see the racers and their intensity as they make any necessary adjustments. Sad that we don't much of this type of racing anymore. Thanks for sharing.
I'm at Dave the other day really nice guy
Thanks for the memories
Sad they just closed for good on 5/15/2024...............

I aways went to this mall every Sunday/Saturday, when I was 6 years old. It was a lively place years ago. But now it’s closed…

The good old days of Sunshine Speedway. Sadly, it's not even close to the good old days anymore.

“Good opportunity to stop by the concession stand…” 💰
Oh my I had never seen that! For all his family and fans may God bless you and keep you! And rest in peace Butch Lindley
The safety crew and all the people involved should be ashamed of themselves that was a fucking joke

F Dusty
The Freedom Factory! I thought that looked familiar as the car shot off into the turn. Also, a '80s Charger 2.2, haven't seen one of those in years.
9.8% APR…what a deal
Teds auto parts I remember them forgot all about them!
Oh cool. Richard Kiel!
i bet he really sold alot more cars cause of that.
Let's go Bradenton!
Only a fool would buy a car from that place.
I know he was a shady guy, but I'd've bought one from him just to say I'd done it! Bradenton '86, what a great time to be alive.

I was born in Bradenton fl Dusty put us on the map so many years ago!!
Dusty makes me wanna buy a car that existed 34 years ago
They're better cars than exist now
I was looking for that 13 car with red and white strips that vice grip garage put back on the newly reopened track
Was that a Ford pinto?.... 🤔
The Dream has ended. Now the Nightmare begins 😁😁😁
